To be eligible to hunt in Alberta you must complete this 20 hour in class course to receive your Alberta Conservation & Hunter Education Certification Number.

Monthly + March Spring Break for the Youths, If registration fills up we will host a class in the last week of the month.

Time: Thurs/Fri 6pm-9pm, Sat/Sun 8am-5pm. (Spring Break Classes will be 8am-3:00pm Weekdays). Bring your own lunch or snacks during the breaks. All course materials will be supplied including the manual and student handbook for study.

Class 1 - Introduction and basic wildlife ID.

Class 2 - Land access/i-Hunter app.

Class 3 - Dressing for conditions & proper equipment.

Class 4 - Understanding ballistics/marksmanship techniques and choosing the right firearm for the right animal.

Class 5 - Archery Basics, bows, shooting techniques, how to set up blinds and tree stands and sent drips. (In Field)

Class 6 - Field dressing if donated animal is available & basic butchering. (In Field)

Class 7 - How to waterfowl hunt and ID

Class 8 - Whitetail Behavior - Understanding whitetails and other big game.

Class 9 - How to do your hunting draws and understanding the hunting regulations.

Class 10 - Tracking & Blood trailing, with mock scenario outdoors. (In Field)

Whitetail Behavior, tracking & Blood Trailing

How to think like a Whitetail by putting yourself into their mindset and understanding body behaviors, micro indicators on the forest floor and evidence left behind. A mock blood trail will be set up for you to experience a hands on tracking experience.

Course Dates: Aug 15th, Sept 12th, Oct 10th from

Time: 9:00am-12:00pm.

Will be indoor facility for learning and then a mock blood trail outside to track a deer. Dress for the weather conditions.

As the opportunity arises, a specialty workshop will be held. With special permits and donated game, you will be called from a waiting list to experience how to field dress a big game animal (Gutting and quartering up). Don’t get stuck in -20C with your first animal, freezing and unable to finish the job. Register to be on a waiting list.

Field Dressing

After this workshop you will no longer need to pay a butcher to debone and cut your steaks for you. Watch as our highly skilled instructor break down the front and back quarters, neck, backstrap and tenderloins. As a first time hunter, understanding how to get drawn for a hunting tag can seem complicated and understanding the legal rules of hunting can seem intimidating. Let us guide you through this experience and answer all your questions!

Hunting draws come out end of May and early June, so watch for a time to sign up.

Hunting Draws and Regulations
